New Shotguns for 4H Youth!
April 12, 2020 by Kirk Miller
Headwaters chapter board member Jeff Sturm handing over 1 of 3 CZ Quail shotguns to Scott Allen of 4H Shooting Sports to replace aging equipment. These shotguns were purchaesd using funds raised at our February banquet through the auctioning of a Tristar 20 gauge over under Shotgun, which was sold, donated back by Josh Doniak of Flattail Gutters and sold again to Tim Davis raising $1,600! We were able to leverage these donations by taking advantage of an offer from CZ USA wherein we were able to purchase three CZ Quail shotguns for the price of two since they are going to youth programs. The money you spent at the auction at work!

January 3, 2019 by Shelley Murphy
Chapter Board member Mark Studt, and Chapter NYLC (National Youth Leadership Council) member Luke Murphy, packed their bags and hit the road for a tried and true South Dakota pheasant hunt. Winner South Dakota is home to T-bones Treehouse Lodge which graciously hosted the event. The hunt and activities were sponsored by The Rosebud Chapter of Pheasants Forever (South Dakota). Mark and Luke enjoyed a couple days of South Dakota birds as well as some evening shooting competitions. We won't say who won those fast draw matches.... Other NYLC members from around the US ventured to South Dakota for the event as well. The National Youth Leadership Council of Pheasants Forever is a fantastic opportunity for youth to get involved in Pheasants Forever and habitat conservation. We are proud to have our own Headwaters member, Luke Murphy, representing Montana on the NYLC.

The Headwaters Chapter of Pheasants Forever had another successful youth hunt. We hosted 6 kids, all with different backgrounds and shooting skills, on our annual hunt. We had a couple roosters harvested and saw plenty of others along the way. The habitat is outstanding this year and it seemed as if the bird numbers were good. Huge thank you to chapter members Pat Howe, Kirk Miller, Matt Murphy, Luke Murphy, Greg Wirth and Morris Haney for showing the kids a great day. Photo credit to Pat Howe.

Headwaters Chapter members gathered from 5-8pm and $1.00 from every beer sold was donated to the chapter during this time. Mother Nature and the College National Championship game may have slowed traffic a little but overall, we had a great night and met a few new members.
